Former Prosecutor · Aggressive Defense Attorney

Marc Hart is a trial lawyer who has practiced criminal law in Michigan for 30 years. His career started as a prosecuting attorney in Wayne County. As a prosecutor, he was privileged to be specially selected to be a member of PROB, the elite unit within the prosecutor's office dedicated to investigating and prosecuting many of Detroit and Wayne County's most high-profile and complex criminal cases.

Those cases included premeditated murder, felony murder, major drug trafficking, serial rape, sex crimes against adults and children, gang activity, robbery, carjacking, racketeering, government and police misconduct and virtually the entire gamut of serious felony crimes that occur in a major metropolitan area.

Among the hundreds of cases he handled as a prosecutor, Marc Hart was the first-ever prosecutor in the state of Michigan to secure a murder conviction in a trial where there were no eyewitnesses to the killing and no part of the victim's body was ever recovered. Mr. Hart also secured the state's second no body murder conviction against a man who kidnapped, murdered and disposed of the body of an infant baby, again with no eyewitnesses to the murder and where no part of the baby's body was ever recovered.

He also successfully prosecuted a man named on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted List" who was featured on the network television show America's Most Wanted for a double murder committed during an armored car robbery. He convicted a serial rapist for the violent rapes of nine women, convicted a man for the brutal rape of a Michigan State Trooper's daughter, convicted a teacher for raping a 15-year-old student and convicted a Detroit police officer for stealing property while on duty.

A Background That Works To Your Advantage

Ironically, having spent the first part of his career putting people into jail turned out to be the best training for knowing what to do to keep people out of jail. For 20 years now, Marc Hart has devoted his entire career to defending people accused of committing all manner of criminal offenses, in both state and federal courts. That's the only kind of law he practices. He has defended doctors, lawyers, police officers, business executives, a police chief, psychologist, pastor, city official and other professionals, as well as countless career criminals, repeat offenders, blue collar workers and first offenders caught up in the snare of the all too often unjust criminal justice system.

He has successfully defended clients charged with premeditated murder, felony murder, second-degree murder, manslaughter, sex crimes, date rape, statutory rape, child molestation, large- and small-scale drug crimes, gun and weapons offenses, home invasion, robbery, carjacking, burglary, embezzlement, check fraud, mortgage fraud, RICO, computer crimes, domestic violence, medical marijuana offenses, drunk driving (including cases where deaths resulted) and the complete array of felony and misdemeanor offenses.

Marc Hart has been recognized by dBusiness Magazine as one of the "Top Lawyers" in criminal defense in Southeast Michigan and as one of The National Trial Lawyers "Top 100 Trial Lawyers." He has lectured and given presentations at trial skills seminars for both prosecutors and defense attorneys. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan, the Michigan Association of OWI Attorneys, the State Bar of Michigan, H.O.G. (the Harley Owners Group) and a past member of the National District Attorneys Association and Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan.
