The Law Offices of Marc E. Hart, P.C. is a law firm that focuses exclusively on criminal defense matters. We handle both felonies and misdemeanors, in both state and federal courts. We engage the services of professional investigators, forensic experts, computer experts and polygraph operators when needed. We take the time to carefully listen and be available to our clients, evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of their cases and devise defense strategies that optimize the likelihood of success in every case. We work on every case knowing that to each individual client, THEIR case is the most important case in the world.

For nearly 30 years now, Marc Hart has been a trial lawyer specializing in criminal law. His career started as a prosecuting attorney in the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. While there he was privileged to be selected as a member of PROB (Prosecutor's Repeat Offenders Bureau), a special unit formed to investigate and prosecute many of Detroit and Wayne County's most high profile and complex criminal cases. Cases charging premeditated murder, felony murder, major drug trafficking, serial rapists, sexual crimes, gang activity, robbery, carjacking, government misconduct and virtually the entire gambit of serious felony prosecutions that occur in a major metropolitan area.

Among the hundreds of cases Hart handled as a prosecutor, and after two years of investigation and legal wrangling, Marc Hart was the first prosecutor in the State of Michigan to ever successfully secure a murder conviction following a jury trial in a case where there were no eyewitnesses to the crime, and no part of the victim's body was ever recovered. Shortly thereafter, Hart secured the state's second "no body" murder conviction against a man who kidnapped, murdered and disposed the body of an infant baby boy. He also successfully prosecuted a man named on the FBI's "10 Most Wanted List" was featured on the network television show America's Most Wanted, convicted a serial rapist responsible for the violent rape of nine women, convicted a teacher for sexually assaulting a 15 year old student and convicted a Detroit police officer for stealing property out of impounded vehicles.

Ironically, having spent the first part of his career putting people into jail turned out to be the best training for knowing what to do to keep them out. Since 1995, Hart has devoted his entire career to defending people accused of committing all manner of felonies and misdemeanors, in state and federal courts. That's the only kind of law he practices. He has successfully defended clients charged with premeditated murder, felony murder, sex crimes, date rape, statutory rape, large and small scale drug trafficking, drug possession, robbery, carjacking, weapons offenses, home invasion, burglary, embezzlement, mortgage fraud, RICO, computer crimes, domestic violence, drunk driving (including cases where deaths resulted) and the complete array of felony and misdemeanor offenses. He has defended doctors, lawyers, police officers, a police chief, a psychologist and other professionals, as well as countless repeat offenders and blue collar workers and their loved ones caught up in the snare of the all too often, unjust, criminal justice system.

DBusiness Magazine has recognized Hart as one of Southeast Michigan's "Top Lawyers" in criminal defense. He has lectured and given presentations at trial skills seminars for both prosecutors and defense attorneys. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan, the Michigan Association of OWI Attorneys, the Michigan State Bar Association, H.O.G. (the Harley Owners Group) and a past member of the National Association of District Attorney's and Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan.
