Supreme Court hears arguments in traffic stop case

Each year the U.S. Supreme Court decides to hear certain cases, the subject of which, run the gamut—both criminal and civil. One of the cases it chose to take this year involves traffic stops and whether a dog-sniff search can be conducted without reasonable cause or whether it is a violation of the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Arguments were recently heard on the case. 

Sex crime conviction often leads to sex offender registration

Most people who are facing a criminal charge of any type feel overwhelmed. There is good reason for this. Depending on the charge a conviction could result in serious repercussions for the accused. Serious crimes could result in hefty fines and possibly the loss of driver's or professional licenses. Others could lead to additional consequences as well. For example, those who are convicted of a sex crime will likely have to register as a sex offender.

White collar crime conviction could lead to serious consequences

There is likely a consensus among readers that to face serious consequences upon a criminal conviction, the crime a person is found guilty of must be violent and nature. While it is true that violent crimes could lead to harsh penalties upon conviction, this is not the only situation in which this could occur.
