A 1989 movie was given an award at a 1990 film festival. The film featured the story of a man who was said to be an expert impostor. A recent article stated that a Michigan man has been arrested and accused of white collar crimes involving similar identity theft. The article said that the man arrested is the actual person upon whom the earlier film was based.
The 64-year-old man was recently taken into police custody under the suspicion that he was impersonating a man from another state. Law enforcement agents were said to have been conducting an investigation in connection to some bad checks. During the course of their investigation, the agents claim that they found the now-arrested man in possession of documents and a white coat such as doctors wear. The Michigan man was allegedly claiming to be another man from the state of Maryland.
The man in Maryland said that he was beyond shocked to learn of the supposed identity theft reportedly committed against him. He also mentioned that he is not, in fact, a doctor. The Michigan man is now awaiting trial from behind bars.
According to reports, the man awaiting trial has multiple convictions on his criminal history record. Those facing similar charges in Michigan would most likely benefit from consulting a criminal lawyer to assess their cases. Legal professionals with experience in white collar crimes would be able to offer suggestions as to how best to proceed when preparing to navigate the legal system under such circumstances.
