About Marc Hart
Former Prosecutor · Aggressive Defense Attorney
I am criminal defense attorney Marc Hart. I've practiced criminal law in Michigan for 36 years. I started my career as a prosecuting attorney in Wayne County, where I was privileged to be specially selected to be a member of PROB, the elite unit within the prosecutor's office dedicated to investigating and prosecuting many of Detroit and Wayne County's most high-profile and complex criminal cases.
Those cases included premeditated murder, felony murder, major drug trafficking, serial rape, sex crimes, child abuse, gang activity, robbery, carjacking, racketeering, government and police misconduct and virtually the entire gamut of serious crimes that occur in a major metropolitan area.
As a prosecutor, I was the first prosecutor in the state of Michigan to secure a "no body" murder conviction. That is, in a trial where there were no eyewitnesses to the killing and neither the victim's body nor any part of the victim's body or DNA was ever recovered. I also secured a second "no body" murder conviction against a man who kidnapped, murdered and disposed of the body of an infant baby, again with no eyewitnesses to the murder and where no part of the baby's body was ever recovered.
I also successfully prosecuted a man named on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted List" who was also featured on the network television show America's Most Wanted for committing a double murder during an armored car robbery. I convicted a serial rapist for the violent rapes of at least nine women, convicted a man for the brutally raping a Michigan State Police Trooper's daughter, convicted a teacher for raping a 15-year-old student and investigated and convicted a Detroit police officer for stealing property and committing fraud while in uniform.
My Background Works To Your Advantage
Ironically, having spent the first part of my career putting people into prison turned out to be the best training for knowing what to do to keep people out. For 26 years now, I've devoted my entire career to aggressively defending people accused of committing all manner of criminal offenses, in both state and federal courts. Criminal defense is the only kind of law I practice. I've defended doctors, lawyers, police officers, business executives, a police chief, a psychologist, clergymen, city officials and other professionals, as well as countless career criminals, repeat offenders, blue collar workers and first offenders caught up in the snare of the all too often unjust criminal justice system.
